Support

You have many opportunities to support the TC Bands. Here are just a few:

  • Organize marching band camp refreshments and the Pass and Review cookout. (done! Many thanks to Randy and Meldie Kish for band camp and the Kishes, the Martins and Youngs for the cookout!)
  • Coordinate a car wash
  • Chaperone a Marching Titans event (competitions, away football games, halftime pizza at home games)
  • Sell 50/50 raffle tickets at home football games
  • Help with uniform coordinating for marching band or symphonic and concert bands. (Marching band thanks to Mia Jones, ably assisted by Meldie Kish and Eugenie Ballering!)
  • Be a driver for TAG day
  • Coordinate an activity to help fund NEW marching band uniforms for Fall 2012.

Chaperone the Marching Titans

The Marching Titans need a few good volunteers to assist them.  Whether it’s coordinating pizza during a home game, helping to track down misplaced items at an away game, or making sure all is in perfect order for a competition – your time is never wasted and you’ll see teens working together to make grand music.

Please consider volunteering for at least one event by contacting Carol Feather Martin, coordinator for game happenings at SCFMewsic@aol.com or by cell: 703-407-5651.

Here’s the schedule. Times listed are game time; you’d need to be at TC earlier. Carol will fill you in on the details when you call:

  • September 9: Away game, 7:30 PM @ Westfield High
  • September 17: Home Game, 1:00 PM @ TCW (Robinson)
  • September 23: Away Game, 7:30 PM @ South County
  • September 24: Marching Band Competition, time TBA
  • October 1: Double-Header!!! Home Game, 3:30 PM @ TCW (Lake Braddock) and Marching Band Competition (you don’t have to chaperone both, unless you really want to!)

  • October 21: Away Game, 7:30 PM @ Annandale

50/50 Raffle Help

Sell $1 tickets in the stands at upcoming home football games. This works just like the traditional 50/50 raffle–half the proceeds go to the winning ticket, the other half to the TC Band program. The more tickets you sell, the more you are earning for TC Bands! You only sell during the first half, so you can focus on the game during the second half.

Contact Sharon Dooley and let her know what game you want to help. E-mail: qplguy@gmail.com, phone: 703-931-7157.

TAG DAY

October 15, 8a-2:00p
TAG DAY 2: November 5 (for those who will be at a high school sporting event on October 15)

What is TAG DAY? TAG DAY is the T.C. Band Boosters’ primary fundraiser and is critical to our ability to support the band program. Donations collected from the community are used to purchase and maintain equipment and uniforms, finance scholarships and help defray the cost of the bands’ annual spring trip.

Participation is mandatory for ALL band students. Students who cannot participate must be exempted in advance by Mr. Thomas, as well as submit the permission form indicating their exemption. It is essential to have an accurate count so transportation can be planned.

We need parents to drive and supervise the student teams. Each volunteer parent drives 2 or 3 teams (4-6 students) to an assigned neighborhood. The parent remains in his or her car while the students go door-to-door. Drivers may relax while staying in sight of the students at all times. Students are not allowed to drive themselves or other students. Without parent drivers, we will not have a TAG DAY which would mean selling more candy, frozen pizza, cheesecakes, nuts, etc., or, paying out of your pocket. TAG DAY drastically minimizes the number of other fundraisers necessary to support the band program.
